Quote from Ian Macpherson's Edinburgh Festival smash The Everlasting Book Tour: 'The Book of Blaise was published in 2015. In 2016 it won several major awards. In 2017 it was made into a Hollywood film. I was played by octogenarian sex god Warren Beatty. Beautiful, menopausal poet Blaise was played by a nineteen-year-old actress with a giggle.'

But why wait for the film? The launch is this week. Blaise will be played by nineteen-year-old actress lookalike
Magi Gibson. I'll be playing myself. Warren Beatty will be played by trigintanarian sex god Alan Bissett

THE BOOK OF BLAISE - LAUNCH

When Emeritus Compere of DisComBoBuLaTe Ian Macpherson finished The Book of Blaise, he offered it to Penguin Classics. ‘Sorry,’ they said, ‘but it takes weeks these days to become a classic. Weeks.’

So he tried Gideon. They’ve done pretty well with The Bible over the years, and hotel double bedrooms do have two bedside tables. Bible. Book of Blaise. Perfect? Not so. It doesn’t, apparently, fit with the brand.

He was about to reconcile himself to the ignominy of a three-book deal with Harper Collins, but was saved from the living hell of mainstream success by
Cloudberry Books, legendary publishers of The Autobiography of Ireland’s Greatest Living GeniusHow To Write An Experimental Novel That Doesn’t Sell And Keeps On Not Selling and Val Doonican – The Unvarnished Truth!

The Book of Blaise is published on October 1st. Cloudberry Books would love to see you at the Glasgow launch:

WATERSTONES, BYRES ROAD. FRIDAY OCTOBER 9, 7.30pm – 9.00pm.

Alan Bissett will introduce the author, who will read some of the book's steamier passages; all of which were instigated by his other guest, Magi Gibson
